Take an early morning dawn hike to the peak of Mount Batur. Follow your guide up the mountain, stopping for a well-deserved breakfast at the summit while watching the dawn. Finish your hectic morning with a relaxing dip in a natural hot spring and a stimulating tour to a coffee farm.

Get picked up from your Bali hotel early in the morning in time to see the sunrise from Mount Batur. Travel to the active volcano at Kintamani between 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM (depending on your hotel's location). Get a quick introduction and safety briefing from your own guide when you arrive at Mount Batur. All of the guides are natives who have climbed Mount Batur since they were kids. Before embarking on your 1.5-hour hike to Bali's tallest volcanic crater in time to view the dawn, take advantage of their great knowledge and love for the region.

Enjoy breakfast when you get at the top and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding region. After daybreak, take a stroll around the volcano's crater before crossing a slope of lava and black sand. At 9 a.m., return down the mountain and soak away your aches and pains in a natural hot spring. On the route back to your lodging, stop at a coffee farm and be dropped off around 1 PM, capping off an incredible morning.

• A modest quantity of walking is required, and a reasonable degree of fitness is advised.
