What vaccines are required to travel on a Royal Caribbean cruise?
All guests must ensure that they are medically and physically fit for travel. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) provide guidelines as to which vaccinations are required in each country. In many cases inoculations are recommended, but in some circumstances, they are required by the country from which your cruise departs or countries we visit. We recommend that you check with your health care professional or a Travel Medicine Specialist certified by the WHO for guidance. Other informational resources can be accessed on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention traveler's health website or by calling toll-free (877) FYI-TRIP and on the World Health Organization website.
COVID-19 Vaccination is no longer required to sail, though we recommend guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. While vaccination is not required, we kindly ask that you disclose your status during check-in.
What are the top things to know after I have booked a Royal Caribbean cruise?
Gathering Documents
Make sure you have the proper forms of identification needed for your cruise. Give yourself plenty of time to obtain or renew your passport, if necessary. In order to make the boarding process as simple as possible, we strongly encourage you to visit RoyalCaribbean.com/onlinecheckin to check in online and print your SetSail Pass no later than three days prior to your sail date. Additionally, guests should look into any visa requirements for their itinerary. Learn more about required travel documents.
Vaccination Guidance
COVID-19 vaccination is not required to sail on any of our cruises.
Testing Requirements
Pre-cruise testing is no longer required to sail on any of our cruises.
Before You Board
Don’t forget to hand carry your passport, SetSail Pass, valuables and medications in your carry-on bag. You’ll need your passport and SetSail Pass to board the ship.
Getting To The Ship
Let us take you from the airport to the port with our “Transfers” program. “Transfers” may be included with our Air2Sea or Hotel offerings. You can also purchase this service separately.
Boarding The Ship
Please refer to your SetSail Pass for specific check-in times.
When should I arrive at the port terminal to board my cruise ship?
Guests should arrive at the terminal within the arrival time slot you selected during Royal App check-in. Your arrival time is listed on your mobile boarding pass. Those who arrive early will not be able to begin boarding, and those who arrive late will need to wait until we are able to work them into another group.
Due to government regulations requiring cruise lines to submit final departure manifests at least 60 minutes prior to sailing, guests are requested to complete Check-in no later than 3 days prior to their cruise. If you do not complete Check-in 3 days prior, you will be required to complete this process at the pier at least two hours prior to the published sailing time. Please note: All guests must be checked-in and onboard the ship no later than 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time or you will not be permitted to sail.
If you choose to fly ChoiceAir, Royal Caribbean automatically displays only the airline schedules that will enable you to meet your cruise. For your return home, you have the ability to select the flight that best suits your schedule. Depending on your disembarkation time and port, the time needed to arrive at the airport will vary.
What happens if I get sick onboard a cruise ship? How can I request my onboard medical records?
If any of our guests or crew members ever feel unwell during their sailing, they can be immediately evaluated by medical staff, with an in-stateroom visit or by video tele-consultation. A multitude of evaluative tests can be conducted right onboard in our medical lab. This is just one capability of our enhanced Medical Center.
In the interest of public health onboard, isolation and/or quarantine may be required to prevent exposure to people who have or may have any kind of infectious disease. A guest that is diagnosed as having an infectious disease by a member of our medical staff onboard will need to isolate onboard for a period of time — either until they can be safely disembarked at a port of call with private transport home, or when the sailing concludes back at the home port where it started. Those guests who meet the threshold to be deemed a close contact will need to meet necessary quarantine and/or testing requirements based on their vaccination status.
Guests who must isolate due to an infectious disease diagnosis will remain in their stateroom or be moved to a stateroom near the medical center where medical staff and Guest Services will check on them regularly, depending on availability. Complimentary amenities including room service and WiFi will be provided.
If you have been treated onboard, and need to request your medical records, please fill out the request form.
When can I check-in for my Royal Caribbean cruise?
PLEASE NOTE: We are hard at work uplifting our cruises for the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities in which we operate. We are guided by the recommendations of our Healthy Sail Panel and the requirements of countries where we sail. For guests of scheduled sailings, we will provide clear communication about what you need to know for our cruises in advance of your sail date, including check in dates, health and safety information, app notifications and all of the activities available throughout your cruise. Our cruise check-in window opens closer to your sailing date, which differs from our traditional check-in timeline.
When it’s time to check in, we recommend you use the Royal Caribbean app to check in all guests on your reservation. The app provides a quick and easy check-in process so you can start your vacation sooner. Updates include:
As before, guests may also check in using our website up to 48 hours before sailing. Guests must complete check in, however, using the app or at the terminal. We highly recommend completing check in using the app for the easiest, fastest, and complete check-in experience.
Royal Caribbean International requires guests to be checked in no later than 60 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time*. Guests arriving late will not be permitted to sail.
When you Check-In at the terminal, show your SetSail Pass in the app to the terminal agent to scan and complete the check-in process.
What documents are required to check-in?
In order to complete Check-In successfully, you will need the following:
You will also need to establish an Onboard Expense Account via either credit card or cash.
Where do I find my cruise reservation documents?
If your cruise documents are available, you can access them through your reservation dashboard in your Guest Account. If your documents are not yet available, check back soon. You should also receive an e-mail when your documents are ready.
If you reserve your cruise vacation online, you’ll receive your cruise documents through e-mail with downloading instructions when your documents are ready.
If you reserve your cruise with a Travel Advisor or a Certified Vacation Planner, your cruise documents will be sent to your Travel Advisor 20-50 days prior to sailing, assuming your reservation is finalized and your payments have been made. Group documents and those that include air arrangements require additional steps and will be sent within 30 days of sailing.
Documentation may not be provided in advance for reservations finalized the week of the sailing – guests will obtain pertinent details at the pier prior to boarding, and once onboard. If you have any questions, please contact your travel advisor or Certified Vacation Planner directly.
How can I get my Royal Caribbean cruise boarding pass (SetSail Pass)?
Successfully completing the check-in process for you and those guests listed on your SetSail Pass will allow you to receive a SetSail Pass.
In order to complete Check-In successfully, you will need the following:
You will also need to establish an Onboard Expense Account via either credit card or cash.
An Onboard Expense Account, also known as your Seapass® onboard account, is the cashless system used for all onboard purchases and services.
The account may be set-up with either a credt card or as a cash account. You may establish a master account and add guests from your stateroom or another stateroom as authorized purchasers on your account.
For each purchase made onboard the ship you will receive a receipt at the point of sale. A final statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the final morning of your cruise vacation for your review.
Guests that set up a Seapass account with a credit card should verify the statement. If all purchases are correct, they will automatically be billed to the credit card.
Guests on a cash account will need to settle their statement onboard prior to disembarking. The ship will provide you with specific details.
How do I setup a Royal Caribbean SeaPass or Onboard Expense Account?
An Onboard Expense Account, also known as your Seapass® onboard account, is the cashless system used for all onboard purchases and services. Depending on your ship, SeaPass cards are handed out at the pier or will be in your stateroom waiting for you.
You are required to add a credit or debit card to complete check-in to establish your onboard expense account. After checking in, you can change your payment method in the app, on Royalcaribbean.com, at the check-in counter on your sail day, or onboard at Guest Services. For Guests who wish to have a cash-backed account, you'll need to complete your check in at the cruise terminal and designate a cash-backed onboard account with the terminal agent. You can add guests from your stateroom or another stateroom as authorized purchasers on your account.
For each purchase made onboard the ship you will receive a receipt. A preliminary statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the last night for your review. A final statement will be e-mailed to you shortly after departing the ship.
If you set up your account with a card, shortly after departing the ship on the last day of your cruise, Royal Caribbean International® will automatically post the final charge to your card on file. Guests on a cash account will need to settle their statement onboard prior to disembarking.
Important Information:
Throughout the cruise, daily authorizations (holds) will be placed on your card to ensure funds are available for your purchases. If you register a card and change to another card or cash during your sailing, you may still see holds on the original card. While the holds aren’t charges, they do reduce your available balance. Most holds are released within 3 to 5 business days, however, depending on your bank this may take up to 30 days. Royal Caribbean International does not control how long the holds remain as the length of time is determined by your financial institution.
Will holds be placed on my credit card when I create an onboard account?
Yes. Just like some land-based hotels, guests can expect to see an initial $99.75 pending charge or authorization on their credit card. This pending amount is used to secure funds for anticipated onboard purchases. Purchases made onboard over the initial $99.75 will generate additional holds. While the holds aren’t charges, they do reduce your available credit. Most holds are released by the time your cruise ends and final charges are settled; however, some may take up to 30 days. Royal Caribbean International® doesn’t control how long the holds remain, your bank or financial institution determines the duration of these holds. If you register a card and change to another card or cash during your sailing, you may still see holds on the original card.
What should I pack for my Royal Caribbean cruise vacation?
Personal Items:
We suggest that guests transport all their medications in their carry-on luggage to minimize the potential for diversion or loss of medications and advise that all medications remain in their original, labeled prescription containers. It is also advisable to pack at least three days of extra medication in the event of an unexpected change in the itinerary of the voyage.
Clothing:
When you’re on board, the right look will vary by venue. But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by occasion. Shoes should be low-heeled for deck activities. Bring a few swimsuits (so you will always have a dry one). Ashore, you’ll need comfortable walking shoes.
If you're cruising to the Caribbean, Mexico or other warm weather destinations, bring a hat for protection from the sun. If your cruise vacation will take you to Alaska, Canada & New England or Northern Europe, be sure to pack a jacket and several sweaters.
Casual: You're on vacation – relax! Jeans, shorts, tees, tank tops, polos, sundresses and blouses are all the right amount of laid back. Please keep swimwear to the Pool Deck.
Smart Casual: Think of this as a step up from your typical dinner wear. Dress to impress with jackets, sports coats, blazers, collared shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses, or pantsuits.
Formal: Make it a night out in your best black-tie look – suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns.
Last Night of Cruise: Bring an overnight bag for your last night at sea. Staff will collect your luggage the night before disembarkation and you will need an overnight bag to carry your nightclothes and toiletries.
How do I get luggage tags?
The Royal guest document (eDocs - electronic document) we issue includes a bag tag specific to the guest ship, sailing date, stateroom and deck number. The bag tag also provides information on how it should be used. In addition, generic bag tags are available at the pier on the day of boarding.
What is the dress code for my cruise?
ONBOARD THE SHIP:
When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue. But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by item.
Formal nights
Think of our formal dress code as a night out in your best black-tie look — suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns are all acceptable options. There can be 1 to 4 formal nights during a sailing and is at the ship’s discretion. Our Chef’s Table dining experience also enforces a formal dress code policy.
*The number of formal nights is at the ship's discretion and can vary by itinerary.
Main Dining Room/Specialty Dining Venues
Bare feet are not allowed at any time in any venue and tank tops are not permitted in the Main Dining Room or Specialty Dining venues for dinner.
Casino Dress Code
Shirt and shoes are always required. Cover-ups should be worn over bathing attire.
AT PORTS OF CALL:
Please note camouflage print clothing and accessories, as well as military-style clothing, is illegal in Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. This style of clothing is reserved only for members of the military at these destinations.
Some visitor sites may require modest dress to enter, such as churches and cathedrals. We encourage you look into clothing standards for the communities and sites you plan to visit.
How much luggage can I bring onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship?
Each guest is permitted to carry a reasonable amount of personal property (including luggage) aboard the vessel; however, for your comfort and convenience, it is recommended that you limit the number of pieces you take. Each guest has the option to carry their luggage on board or check-in luggage prior to boarding. Luggage may include suitcases, trunks, valises, satchels, bags, hangers containing clothing, toiletries and similar items. Here are some recommendations for packing only cruise essentials.
We recommend that guests personally carry any boarding documentation such as passports, visas, citizenship documents and family legal documents plus all medications. To minimize the potential for diversion or loss of medications, we advise that all medications remain in their original, labeled prescription containers. It is also advisable to pack at least three days of extra medication in the event of an unexpected change in the itinerary of the voyage. It is also a good idea for guests to pack a small carry-on bag with a change of clothes, and bathing suit. That way they don't have to wait for their checked bags to arrive in their stateroom.
Luggage may be locked only with a TSA approved lock.
Any carry-on luggage must be able to fit through the x-ray screening machines. These machines vary in size from port to port, however generally they are similar to those found at airport security check points. Guests wishing to carry their luggage with them during boarding should note that their stateroom may not be immediately available to store their luggage.
How do I request replacement luggage tags from Royal Caribbean?
If you forgot your luggage tags at home, ship luggage tags are available from our Porters at the pier on the day of boarding but to avoid any day-of-boarding delays we recommend that you secure your Luggage Tags before leaving home if you are a qualified guest.
When can I expect to get my luggage once onboard?
Due to the high volume of luggage on embarkation day, luggage may arrive after the sailaway. A specific time window for delivery as well as pick up* locations will be posted in the Cruise Compass once you are onboard. Times and location vary by ship and sailing.
* If your luggage was found to have any prohibited items, it will be placed in a separate area for pick up.
Does Royal Caribbean offer Luggage Valet? What are the benefits?
Luggage Valet is a service offered onboard which enables guests to bypass traditional airport check-ins. Guest who participate will be processed onboard the ship and receive their airline boarding passes, luggage tags as well as baggage claim checks for their checked-in luggage.
Luggage Valet is offered at a minimal fee, plus the airline luggage fees. The per person fee is waived for guests staying in Grand Suites and above.
Royal Caribbean's Luggage Valet Program offers the following benefits:Check-In for your flight onboard.
Other criteria for eligibility:
Your flight needs to be the same day of ship’s arrival.
* Participating airlines vary by port. Consult the Guest Relations Desk onboard for specific port qualifications and additional information. An additional fee will apply.
What internet options are available on board Royal Caribbean cruise ships?
There are 2 options to stay connected while onboard.
VOOM is available onboard all ships fleetwide. Prices for internet access vary and are subject to change. Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to the guest network.
Can I use my Wi-Fi internet package at Perfect Day at CocoCay?

VOOM is 6x faster than any other internet at sea! For the first time you will be able to stream music and movies, upload pictures, video chat with family and friends using FaceTime or Skype, check your email, look at your stock prices, surf the web and stay connected with work.
Royal Caribbean is the only cruise line with high speed internet at sea. Whether you have your phone, tablet, or laptop, VOOM allows guests to stay connected. VOOM is available onboard all ships fleetwide. Each one of our VOOM ships gets its signal directly from a satellite beam dedicated to our ships that orbits close to the Earth, allowing us to offer fast and reliable service.
The cost of VOOM varies by the number of devices and the service package purchased. We recommend that guests purchase VOOM pre-cruise to enjoy the biggest discount from onboard prices. Simply log in to My Cruises, and go to Cruise Planner.
Will the onboard shops be open on the first day of my cruise? What about disembarkation day?

Please check the Cruise Compass once onboard for specific operating hours.
Disembarkation Day

Guests should be advised to take notice of the guidance provided in the Cruise Compass as events and locations vary by ship and itinerary.
GAMBLING POLICY
Guests eighteen (18) years of age and older are welcome to play in our casinos (for all Alaska sailings, guests must be 21 years of age in order to play in our casinos).
Proof Of Age
Royal Caribbean reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean's age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for their cruise vacation. However, if a guest celebrates their 21st birthday during the cruise, the guest may thereafter ask the Guest Services Manager to modify ship's records to permit their consumption of alcohol during the remainder of the cruise. The guest will be required to appear at Guest Services with his or her parent or guardian and to present a government issued form of identification to establish that the guest's 21st birthday was celebrated during the cruise.
What is the code of conduct for guests onboard the ship?
All our guests deserve to enjoy their vacation to the fullest so we have outlined the expectations of behavior for people enjoying a cruise vacation.

Royal Caribbean International kindly asks all guests to please observe the smoking policy. These requests are made to provide a comfortable cruise for everyone. Guests who violate this smoking policy may result in one or more enforcement actions* as described on page 2 of our Guest Conduct Policy.
Where does Royal Caribbean get the foreign exchange rates used onboard?
Royal Caribbean uses daily market rates published by Bloomberg, a reputable, New York-based financial service company.
How do I pay for onboard purchases?
An Onboard Expense Account, also known as your SeaPass® onboard account, is the cashless system used for all onboard purchases and services. SeaPass cards will be in your stateroom waiting for you.
The account may be set-up with either a credit card or as a cash account. You may establish a master account and add guests from your stateroom or another stateroom as authorized purchasers on your account.
For each purchase made onboard the ship you will receive a receipt at the point of sale. Your SeaPass® onboard account can be viewed on your stateroom TV and the Royal Caribbean app. A final statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the final morning of your cruise vacation for your review. Please note all onboard prices are in USD.
Guests that set up a SeaPass account with a credit card should verify the statement. If all purchases are correct, they will automatically be billed to the credit card. Guests may notice pending charges or authorizations on their credit card. Just like some land-based hotels, guests can expect to see an initial $100 pending charge or authorization on their credit card. This pending amount is used to secure funds for anticipated onboard purchases. Purchases made onboard over the initial $100 will generate additional holds.
Guests on a cash account will need to settle their statement onboard prior to disembarking. The ship will provide you with specific details.
Can I bring my own alcohol, bottled water or soda onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship?
One of the best things about cruising is the food! And there will be many dining options available to suit most tastes and preferences. However you are free to bring non-perishable prepackaged food in limited quantities.

Guests who purchase alcohol bottles onboard, in a port-of-call, or bring more than the one permitted bottle on boarding day, will have their items safely stored by the ship. These bottles will be returned on the last day onboard for enjoyment once home.
For consecutive sailings, guests of drinking age are allowed to bring one (1) 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne for each individual sailing. Additional bottles will be stored by the ship and delivered, one bottle at a time, to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing more than one bottle at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for any consecutive sailings available to share with security.
Alcoholic beverages (beer, seltzer or hard liquor) seized on embarkation day will not be returned.
Guests may also bring non-alcoholic beverages as carry-on items on boarding day. Non-alcoholic beverages may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom. Milk and distilled water brought on for infant, medical, or dietary use are permitted.

Travel Advisors: All arrangements for travel advisors to visit our ships for business reasons must be authorized in advance through the Sales Department.

My bag wasn’t delivered to my stateroom because it was held by security, is this a normal process?
Just like the security screening at an airport, we also screen all luggage our guests bring onboard to ensure everyone’s safety. If there is an item in your luggage that is prohibited or is believed to be prohibited, your bag will be taken to a screening location and will be inspected by our Security Team onboard. The screening process is conducted under supervision and we’ll ensure the correct procedures are being followed while adhering to any Healthy Sail Panel recommended procedures.
Once the inspection process is finished, if your item must be confiscated, our staff will provide you with a Prohibited Items Receipt so you can retrieve your item on debarkation day. You'll be able to retrieve your item from a designated area before departing us. The pick-up area varies by port, so we'll be sure to keep you informed. Please make sure to have the receipt provided to you on day one to claim your item.

What identification does a child need to cruise? What if I am traveling with a minor that is not my own child? What if my last name does not match my child’s?
Required ID for Kids
To learn exactly what documents your child needs for your itinerary, visit our Travel Documents Hub.
Traveling with a child that is not your own
Are you traveling with a grandchild, niece, nephew, or other child that you are not the guardian of? When a minor (age 17 and under) travels without their legal guardian, an accompanying adult must present a notarized form signed by the child’s guardian. This ensures the child has the guardian’s consent to leave the country and participate in release-form activities onboard.
Different last names
If your child has a different last name than you, you will need to bring an official supporting document to help explain why the names are different. The supporting document must be the original, or a notarized copy. Some examples of valid supporting documents:
